Vintage Mexican Aztec? 32pc Marble? Onyx? Stone Black/White Hand Carved? Chess Set w/Wood Board Storage Case.
Not much is known about this set other than the pieces are made from some kind of stone & may or may not be hand carved. The pattern of the pieces appear to be modeled from Islander statues. I noted only two pieces with significant chips; one of the white knights has a chipped ear, one of the white pawns has a chip on the back. Both are pictured, but it is difficult to see.
The wood chess board is 15-11/16" x 15-11/15" x 1-11/16", is hinged in the center to serve as storage for the chess pieces. When closed the board measures 15-11/16" x 7-7/8" x 3-1/4". The board does have nicks and scratches but is otherwise in very good condition given the age. The storage area is lined with a satin like material, it is not padded or cushioned.
The exact date is unknown, but it is handwritten inside the board with my father's name & "Xmas 1966."
