Up for sale is this gorgeous vintage white eyelet wedding or prom dress. The eyelets form a daisy pattern which gets more intricate on the cuffs and ruffles, where it's enhanced by yellow gingham fabric and more embroidery. It's got a little polka-dot ribbon at the waist that is tied into a bow in back.

The fabric is what we used to call "cotton lawn" but this one is probably a poly-cotton blend judging by how few wrinkles it holds, as well as the 60's-70's era that it comes from. Poly-cotton was very popular for its no-iron qualities. It still has that soft, flowy, cotton feeling without the maintenance issues.

This full length dress has a V-neck with a small, softly folded shirt collar. The leg o' mutton sleeves have pale yellow gingham embroidered onto the cuffs, which have a snap closure. The same gingham is repeated in the ruffles and train of the dress. It has a white satin lining with a bit of stiffening at the bottom.

This dress is real vintage 70's, and has an ILGWU tag, but no other identification.

The great thing about it is that it's a normal size and not teensy-tiny like lots of older outfits. This correlates to a modern size 8-10. I'm a ten and I got it on, but my waist isn't what it used to be 40 years ago, so I'm not modeling it. Please check the measurements below with something that fits you well, and don't be afraid to ask for more measurements or photos.

Please note that there is extra room in the side seams for tailoring. See the last two photos.

I repaired a bit of ruffle in back that had come loose, but nothing else was necessary. It's in great condition, and you could wear it right now. But a professional cleaning might not hurt, and it might need a bit of attention to the hook and eye closures above the zipper, which are delicate but so far still holding tight.

The ribbon at the waist is already tied and closes with snaps. It's only tacked on, and you could easily replace it with a different sash or belt depending on how you want to accessorize it. Check out my close-up photos for details.

This style was made very popular by the Gunne Sax brand at the time.  This dress is very similar, and fits all the characteristics of the best of that era: prairie, boho, cottagecore, Victorian or Renaissance, it would go with so many themes and really make your Wedding or Prom unique.

Last but not least, it has a fantastic train that puts the full length of the dress at 86" from the collar in back to the hem of the train. Other measurements are taken lying flat:

Shoulder to shoulder in back: 15"

Bust at the armpits: 36

Waist:30

Sleeve length:26"

Total length in front, from the collar to the hem: 58"
