Kaffir plum

(Harpephyllum caffrum)

A relative of the cashew and mango, it is an excellent fruit tree, with fruit which resemble miniature red mangoes. It combines the spicy flavour of a mango and sour citrus with  creamy notes of passionfruit in a small stone-fruit package.

The tree is also highly ornamental with beautiful foliage, white to yellow/green flowers and makes for a grand looking drought tolerant shade or feature tree which requires minimal water once established.

Fruit

A delicious complex flavour, like a tart mango, with added health benefits, including

 vitamins minerals and antioxidants.

The fruit is often eaten out of hand and is used for drinks, cocktails, rose wines, jams,

jellies and chutneys and mixes well with other tropical flavours.
