The book is the result of a 10 year study on the coins hammered in Bhutan up to the mid 20th century.

During that period about 3.200 coins where studied and 2.400 were withheld as study-objects resulting in this book.

It includes coins of several important collections from all continents. N. Rhodes collection being the most comprehensive and famous.  All these coins were individually weighted, measured and photographed.

Pictures are included of some rare never published pieces, like the early golden rupee. So far, nothing was published on the ancient golden and gold-washed coins.   It is also the first time that the low weight coins are given the attention they deserve, although sometimes difficult to recognize. So far these coins were attributed to "unofficial" mints and therefore considered as less interesting.

The 2.400 coins are organized via a clear, comprehensive and straightforward classification system, splitting them up into 10 groups, 230 types and 675 variations.   From each major variation a picture is available with a size of 4 cm diameter, allowing the reader to have a detailed view of the designs.

Once you bought the book you can receive a yearly addendum with new findings and improved pictures.

In the meantime the study included more then 2.700. Some(not all)  of these addenda can be found on the website www.academia.edu.  So you know what to expect.  The book is thus not the only thing you get for your money ...
