HISTORY

Published in 1910, "The Grand Canyon of Arizona: How to See It" is a comprehensive and informative guidebook to one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. Written by George Wharton James, a renowned American author and lecturer, this book provides detailed information on the history, geology, and ecology of the Grand Canyon, as well as practical advice on how to explore and appreciate its beauty.

Through his engaging prose and vivid descriptions, James takes the reader on a journey through the breathtaking landscapes and awe-inspiring vistas of the Grand Canyon. He provides valuable insights into the region's geological history and offers tips on the best ways to navigate the various trails, viewpoints, and attractions.

In addition to its informative content, "The Grand Canyon of Arizona: How to See It" is also a work of art in its own right. James includes numerous illustrations and photographs, capturing the stunning colors and textures of the canyon's rock formations and the unique flora and fauna of the surrounding area.

"The Grand Canyon of Arizona" is also a valuable historical and cultural document, providing insights into the Native American tribes who have called the Canyon home for centuries, as well as the explorers and adventurers who have been drawn to its grandeur.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Today we are pleased to offer this nicely preserved volume on the Grand Canyon!

A great find from a local New England estate!

This scarce antique first edition is over 113 years old!

First edition.  Ex-library.

This antique illustrated volume is in very good condition overall!  Original publisher cloth binding shows just light wear, including a library catalog sticker pasted to the spine, some gentle rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, some general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and some rubbing to the gilt top edge.  Otherwise sturdy and square!

Internally, this volume is in great shape overall.  Both boards and all page groupings remain firmly attached to the binding.  This is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers, and the title page and copyright page.  Otherwise this volume is clean and free from signatures and inscriptions.

The text block of this volume is exceptionally clean throughout.  Pages show light toning from age, and perhaps the odd spot of light soiling or foxing, but are otherwise clean and vibrant and free from rips, tears, writing and markings.

Profusely illustrated throughout with photographs and illustrations as well as two foldouts.  Make sure to see the additional photos in the description below for more information.
