Homelandof a cannon jolle is considered to be Sweden. The basic designs ofthe ships were designed by famous Swedish shipbuilder of Englishorigin – Fredrik Chapman, and from 70s of the XVIII century theirconstruction began.

Heavy artillery and good maneuverability with asmall crew, small displacement and insignificant draught allowed toconduct operations in the most hard-to-reach areas, to gain crews ofpeople who do not have a good maritime training. Jolles in Russiawere built on the model of the Swedish, taken as trophies in variousbattles. The first 20 jolles were built at the Riga shipyard by S.Durakin in 1791. By the beginning of the another war with Sweden1808-1809, Russia has managed to put their own archipelago fleetagainst Swedish fleet in the Baltic sea: 233 gunboats (25 of themwere captured from the Swedish) and 114 cannon jolles, which, alongwith the larger vessels, played a decisive role in naval battles.

Master Korabel of Russia recreates a wood model kit of the Jolle in exceptional detail and historic accuracy.
All wooden parts are laser cut. The ship model kit includes photo-etched brass sheets, machine turned cannon barrel, three diameters of rigging line and sailcloth.
The hull planking is pre-cut by lasers to exact shape, eliminating the need for cutting and sanding. A booklet of color photos supplements, clear plans and English instructions make building this wood ship model a pleasure for the experienced modeler.
