On January 16, 1999 a pre-face tattooed Mike Tyson took on the South African Francois "The Buffalo" Botha. Two years earlier, Tyson had earned himself a ban from boxing after notoriously biting Evander Holyfield's ear in the third round of their June 28, 1997 fight. In the meantime, Botha climbed the ranks to the #2 Heavyweight spot. For Tyson's first fight back from his forced leave, he was paired up with Botha, with both fighter confident that they could knock the other out. Despite a rocky and rusty start, Tyson eventually succeeded on his pre-fight threats, knocking Botha out in the fifth round. This original shirt from 1999, in great condition was made by MGM Grand for the Mike Tyson and Francois Buotha fight on January 16.
