This is a Minolta Auto III light meter, a professional-quality tool. It measures incident light (the light falling on a subject). It takes a bit more judgement than a reflected light meter, but it isn't fooled by subjects darker or lighter than normal. It uses one AA battery. The meter operates correctly.  I compared its readings with another Minolta meter and with a Gossen Luna-Pro to verify its accuracy. The meter reads ambient light; it does not measure flash.

The meter has one quirk you should be aware of. When the meter is turned on, it defaults to ISO 100 and EV (not f/stops). A quick push of the EV/F stop button restores the reading in f-stops; the up/down arrow buttons set the ISO to whatever speed film you are using. I wish the meter would "remember" the settings when it was turned off, but it doesn't. The meter is not broken; this is the way Minolta designed it to function.

There are options such as a spot meter attachment available on eBay for this meter.

I am selling the cameras and photo equipment I have collected over the past fifty years. They have not been film tested but appear to function correctly (film winds on, shutter fires, f/stops change, focus works). Shutter speeds sound approximately correct to my ear but speeds have not been electronically tested. I have disclosed any problems that I am aware of and have tried to act like a fussy sharp-eyed buyer in evaluating the cameras and lenses. The items have been stored in an air-conditioned non-smoking home. Remember that many of these items are classics, over forty years old, and inevitably will show some wear and signs of age.

To avoid customs delays and hassles, I will only ship to the USA or Canada and accept only payments via PayPal. Please ask any questions before you bid. My goal is to make every buyer fully satisfied and each transaction free from hassle. Please let me know if you are not satisfied with the item received. I would appreciate positive feedback if you are pleased with the transaction.
