Lewis "Scooter" Libby is an American lawyer and former government
official who served as the Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney
from 2001 to 2005. He was involved in various policy matters during the
George W. Bush administration and played a significant role in shaping
U.S. foreign policy. Libby's career took a controversial turn when he
was convicted of perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false
statements in connection with the investigation into the leaking of the
identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame. The case drew significant
attention and had political ramifications. Despite his conviction,
Libby's sentence was later commuted by President George W. Bush.
