Hewlett Packard HP-01
Circa 1976 Vintage
Very Rare and highly collectable.
Watch is in stunning condition!
Stainless steel with black face and buttons.
I placed new batteries in this watch prior to taking pictures. I stored the watch for 20 years without batteries to hedge against any battery leaks etc. The inside of the watch looks as good as the outside.
The LED characters are bright and perfect, the buttons all work and function correctly, and the display window is clean and clear.
Absolutely spectacular.
I have been care provider of this watch for almost 20  years. Now its someone else's turn to care for it.

This particular watch is a very rare early version (late 1976). Most all production took place between 1977 and 1979. Of all the digital watches produced in the 70's the HP-01 stands out as the King and is the most sophisticated digital watch every produced until the smart watches of the middle 2010's. The variations of different types of calculations this watch could task is impressive for any watch let alone for 1970's technology. Date arithmetic, time formats and conversions, percentage calculation to name a few.

This full set and comes with everything it was born with! Even has a service receipt form 1979 for new batteries. Great provenance.

I am doubtful if this piece was ever worn. It has a few very hard to see scratches but I believe these happened over its 47 year life span from handling. If not for the condition of the outer box you would think this watch is in a relatively new state. The pictures, as good as they are, do not show just how clean and what beautiful condition this watch is in. All documents are crisp and accounted for, including an advertisement poster. As seen in the pictures, the only thing that shows its age is the outer box where the faux suede-like material has a patina. The watch holder is also a piece of foam, which is correct (although it was cheap of HP to do that).
All in all this is a very fine example that any collector would be proud to have in their collection to enjoy or hold as an investment.
