GOOD COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL PRIVATE PRESS EPHEMERA -

PRIVATE PRESS PUBLISHING (an endeavour performed by craft-based expert or aspiring artisans, either amateur or professional, who, among other things, print and build books, typically by hand, with emphasis on design, graphics, layout, fine printing, binding, covers, paper, stitching, and the like).

The Old School Press, Rocket Press, Incline Press ephemera - an extensive collection of over 60 prospectuses, book lists and other ephemeral printed items from three different English private presses, mainly 1990s. 

A total of approx. just over 60 individual prospectuses, book lists, order forms, invitations to events, accompanying letters from press owners etc., Circa 1980s-2000s. Size: mainly 4to and 8vo, with several folded foolscaps.

On offer here is a wide variety of printed ephemera from three different English private presses, as follows: 

ROCKET PRESS: A total of approx. 20 pieces of ephemera, circa 1990s, including about 15 general pieces such as invitations to events, and announcements by the press, etc., and 5 prospectuses - 'Homage to Franco Sacchetti'; 'A posy of wildflowers'; 'The Victorian Archbishops of Canterbury'; 'Ray Howard-Jones'; 'The path to Calvary'; and one stand-alone publication, 'Bookish Quotations', (Blewbury): Rocket Press, 1985. Wraps. One of 900 copies.

OLD SCHOOL PRESS: Approx. 17 pieces of ephemera including 14 prospectuses and 3 book lists from Old School Press, mainly 1990s. Includes the very nicely printed book list 'Some plans,,, no promises', 2001, with a colour litho sample plate from 'Lowlands Abbey', and another finely printed book list dated 1994. The prospectuses, some with sample plates, include: 'The bricks of Venice'; 'Tokonama'; 'Henry James sat here'; 'The phoenix'; 'Palladio's homes'; and others.

INCLINE PRESS: Approx. 25 pieces of ephemera, mainly 1990s, a few later or earlier. These include 4 booklists and 5 related pieces of ephemera, inc. 'Less a catalogue - More a prosepctus'; two catalogues for 1997 in variant wraps; and 'Incline Press - Why not subscribe?'; as well as around 20  prospectuses, several with specimen plates, such as 'In praise of patterned papers'; 'Art for life'; 'The amazing Miss Brooke'; 'Parvus - The little 'un'; 'Urban birds'; 'Harvesting colour'; 'Marco's animal alphabet'; 'Their book of foys from India'; 'The book decorations of Thomas Lowinsky'; 'The first wife - a voice for Katherine of Aragon'; and 'New borders' (2 variants).
