A collection of 4 original albumen photographs, including three views of Ceylon, and an unusual image of naval officers joking around with a telescope on the deck of HMS Pallas, c1890.

A total of 4 original albumen photographs. Undated but circa 1890. Mounted back to back on two album cards. Contemporary captions in ink on mounts below the Ceylon photos. Three photos with photographer's credit (Scowen x 2, and F.G.O.S) and/or caption in the negatives. Size: (excluding card borders) - approx. 27.8cm x 22.4cm, or  slightly larger or smaller.

Very Good plus condition. two of the Ceylon photos retaining excellent deep tones. The naval officers photograph with minor age-toning to edges. Small crease/closed tear to bottom corner of one card, but photographs unaffected. Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images.

An excellent group of four original albumen photographs, circa 1890. Three are of Ceylon (modern day Sri Lanka) and one is of naval officers on the deck of HMS Pallas, laughing and joking with a telescope. Two of the Ceylon photos retain excellent deep tones, and the remaining pair of photos are almost as nice. The Ceylon photos show the breakwater in Colombo, Adam's Peak from Nuwara Eliya, and the lake in Kandy.
