C1900 PRETTY PAIR EDWARDIAN SILVER PLATED CANDLESTICKS
Estimated to have been made around
the 1900 cusp between the Victorian and Edwardian period this beautifully
fashioned pair of dainty candlesticks are raised on a decorated stepped foot
with quatrefoil stems and finished with fixed sconces. They are marked as being
‘BRITISH MADE’. They are in good condition for their age but one stick has some damage
to the inner sconce (still able to hold a candle erect) with some scratching to
the sconce rim. It looks as if a candle has been difficult to remove at some
time resulting in the fine scratches and split to the inner liner. The silver
cover is otherwise sporting a bright silver gleam with just the occasional
unobtrusive dot or squiggle. The underside to the foot remains unpolished as
presumably it has been for many, many years. Display well, so very pretty sporting the delicacy of Edwardian design
with the practicality of stability and weight.
