This  is a high-quality antique Japanese forged iron  fireman's pick ax signed by the Japanese master tool maker, Tadetetsu  (see pictures 4-6).  Also inscribed on the side of the pick are the Japanese words, Tosa no Kami (Most important official) in Tosa).  Made of hard tempered Japanese steel for a tool you will use for a lifetime.,

  • While it shows some signs of past use:  minor oxidation and warm patina, it is overall in very good condition and ready for a lifetime of use.
  • Its forged iron head is 5 1/2" long (14 cm). 
  • Last picture (not included) shows Japanese firemen with long poles holding similar pick ax.  This pick ax lacks the original pole.
