The Globe Brick Company was well-known in Newell, West Virginia for their “wire cut and dry pressed” ladle brick”. This coffee mug must have been a give-away advertisement for their best customers within the steel industry.

The mug is a glossy cream color glaze inside & out. On three exterior rows is brown lettering of the company name and embossed features of some sort of bucket.

This heavy-gauge ceramic mug weighs 13 oz and has a capacity of 12 ounces. It’s 3 5/8” tall with an opening diameter of 3 ½”. The handle protrudes 1 ¼”.

Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, crazing, scratches or discoloration.

The underside backstamp with an map outline of the USA and Canada in gold reads: “since 1890 W.C. Bunting Co., A Great Name in Pottery, East Liverpool, Ohio, Phone 216-385-2050”.

This was produced in the 50s or 60s. Based on the intro of 7-digit phone numbers and incorporation records showing the Globe Brick Co name was dissolved in 1967.

W.C. Bunting, founded in 1880, was one of many potteries in East Liverpool, Ohio. The area was known for high quality local clay and water.

Thanks for looking.
