I recently was informed by another eBay member that this is NOT a Geisha doll as I had first assumed, but she represents a dancer from the far southern Japanese island of Okinawa!!
The silk along the front panels of her kimono also show some sun damage but are intact. The kimono is mostly reds and yellow, accented by an elaborate pattern and purple trim; the face is hand painted silk; the hands and feet are plastic.
This doll (with the hat on), measures about 20" tall, without the hat, about 17.5" tall. The wood base measures 6" x 7".
