Description: At the beginning of the 19th Century, Francois-Seraphin Delpech ran the most popular lithographic printing house in Paris. Delpech not only made beautiful lithographic prints from his own designs, but also printed lithographs after designs by other artists, and sold these prints in his shop.

Artists and Engravers: Lithograph by Francois-Seraphin Delpech (French 1778-1825) after Carle Vernet. Antoine Charles Horace Vernet aka. Carle Vernet (1758-1835) was a French painter, the youngest child of Claude Joseph Vernet, and the father of Horace Vernet. Born in Bordeaux, Vernet was a pupil of his father and of Nicolas-Bernard Lepicie. Strangely, after winning the grand prix (1782), his father had to recall him back from Rome to France to prevent him from entering a monastery.

Subject: Plate: a hunting scene where the horse slipped, and dislodged its rider. He has fallen under the horse, and lost his cap.

Condition: Very good, left edge a bit uneven, bottom margin a little thumbed. Please study scan carefully.

Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 41 x 28 cm. The image size is ca. 26 x 19 cm.
Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 16.1 x 11 inch. The image size is ca. 10.2 x 7.5 inch.

Medium: Handcoloured crayon style lithograph, on a velin type paper.
