Photograph Notes: Another building that began life as a residential house before conversion to a shop in the first decade of the 20th century. For a brief period it was a drapers then fancy goods store before Charles Humphrey moved along the street from [[2522364]] to set up his fishmongers, one of two that operated in the street for nearly fifty years. Humphrey retained ownership until selling the business to John Rolf in 1948 who continued trading for another forty years before they too sold the business to Peter Leach who still runs the business from Lewes today. Rolfs business disappears from the Yellow Pages in 1987 but remains listed in the phone directory up to 1990 whereupon a second hand record shop, Across the Tracks, moved in. Another doyen of the local record collectors scene who have had a variety of homes in the vicinity. They moved out to Trafalgar Street during the mid 1990s before settling in their current position at the southern end of the street albeit with an official address in Gloucester Road. After which Immediate moved in during 1993. It is another second hand clothes store but with an emphasis on punk, new wave, mod and ska fashions. The basement which once housed the freezers of the fishmongers is now the Punker Bunker, a small trading post dedicated to that genre promoting and selling local bands and fanzines. The Rolf family still own the freehold of the shop.
