Fabulous gilt brass escutcheon late Victorian C 1890's. The design looks like an image of the Green Man at the top although this could be coincidental!
Quite a large piece for an escutcheon, obviously made to fit a biggish door.
Escutcheon width 48 mm, length 58 mm
No damage to the metalware.
Number 579 imprinted to the reverse.
