Description

World Bus Collection WB003 GMC TDH4512 Green Diorama Supplies (Manufacturer's first order limited production)

The World Bus Collection is a collection of precision bus models in 1/160 N scale, featuring epoch-making buses from around the world, which can be lined up with the N gauge models or enjoyed as part of a bus model collection.

The vehicle, called the GMC Old Look Bus, was the world's first mass-produced rear-engine bus, which began production in the United States in 1940.
This bus features a lightweight frameless monocoque body structure and a transversely mounted diesel engine under the rearmost floor. It was an epoch-making vehicle that served as a model for new buses around the world.
In Japan, Fuji Heavy Industries started production of the first frameless rear engine bus in 1949, and it is said that this vehicle was built after studying the old-look buses brought by the Occupation Forces at that time, and its body design was also influenced by them.
In 1959, when the bus was remodeled as the New Look Bus, which featured a window with an enlarged field of view, the previous design became known as the Old Look Bus.
There are still some of these vehicles preserved in motion in various parts of the United States.
