Antique Print-SAILING SHIP-ROWING-SLOOP-COLIMA-MEXICO-Sewel-Dampier-1698

Description: This print originates from the 1698 Dutch edition of William Sewel's translation of William Dampier's travelogue: 'Nieuwe Reystogt rondom de Werreld' (A New Voyage Round the World), published in the Hague by Abraham de Hondt.

Artists and Engravers: Engraver Caspar Luyken (based on monogram C.L. in some of the plates in the originating work).

Subject: Page no.177: Shows one of the ships on its way to Kolyma / Colima in present day Mexico. A large sailing ship, anchored just off the coastline. A man is busy trimming the sails while a sloop with several figures rows toward shore.

Condition: Very good, given age. Small paper damage in the left margin (not nearly affecting image). A faint stain in the bottom left corner of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 16 x 20 cm. The image size is ca. 12 x 15.5 cm.
Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 6.3 x 7.9 inch. The image size is ca. 4.7 x 6.1 inch.
