Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jacques Philippe le Bas-Malbeste' after 'Adriaen van de Velde'. Etched by Malbeste and finished by Le Bas. Georges Malbeste (1754-1853?), Jacques Philippe Le Bas or Lebas (1707 -1783) was a French engraver. Le Bas was engraver to the Cabinet du roi and successfully produced engravings after several paintings by different artists. His oeuvre amounts to more than 500 works, including many large portraits after Vernet, and several works after van de Velde, Parrocel, Berchem, Ruysdael, Watteau, Oudry and Lancret. Adriaen van de Velde (1636-1672) was a very versatile artist. He made paintings, drawings and prints. He is even known to make terracotta sculptures. His subjectmatter is almost always cattle, dogs and horses.

Subject: Antique print, titled: 'Chasse Royale' - ('The Royal Hunt'). Noble and well-dressed hunters rest in a landscape, with a mansion in the background. One servant holds a pack of dogs, another cleans his master's shoes while a third holds the horse.
Condition: Very good, given age. Small tears in lower margin. Creases in corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
