Cloisonné Table Lamp

We offer a Japanese cloisonné vase from the Meiji period (1868-1912) which was adapted for use as a table lamp. The rose grounded vase is decorated with a bird amidst flowering plants. The bird is about to capture a grasshopper in its beak. Decorative floral borders are found at the upper rim and lower base.

The vase sits atop a wooden base and the electrical lamp fitting is secured into the opening of the vase.

The cloisonné lamp weighs 6 pounds 0.5 ounces.

The vase measures 13” in height with a diameter of 6” at the shoulder and 4” at the bottom. The wooden base is 7 1/2” in diameter and 3 1/8” in height. The height of the lamp on its base to the top of the light socket measures 22 1/4” and 31 1/2” to the finial.

As seen in the photographs, the cloisonné vase has a patched repair from a bump which caused spidering.

A companion cloisonné lamp with a pink ground is offered on a separate listing.
