First and only edition. This is a continuation of Spinniker's 'Leerzaame Zinnebeelden.' (Haarlem, Isaac van der Vinne, 1714, and new-title editions of 1756 and 1757), which contained 50 emblems by Vincent van de Vinne. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Vincent van der Vinne Jr.' after 'Adriaan Spinneker'. Most of the refined plates are by painter and etcher Vincent van der Vinne Jr (1686-1742), although J.C. Philips is given as the etcher of 4 plates in the second part of this book. The author of this work is Adriaan Spinniker (Groningen 1676-1754 Haarlem). He was a preacher with the doopsgezinde gemeente in Amsterdam. He is known for his poetry.

Subject: Antique print, titled: ''24. ''t Geloof haalt aan.'' - (''Faith pulls in''). Men are seated on the dunes while watching a naval battle through telescopes. The argument is that it is better to let oneself be led by faith, as faith will steer you into harbour.
Condition: Very good, given age. General age-related toning and occasional light stains from handling. Please study image carefully.
