The interesting thing about this piece is the Silver Setting the stone is in is actually removable from the base and can be made into a necklace or brooch if you choose. a couple of screws on the back as shown in picture is all it takes to separate the setting from the base.

This handmade piece was given to my MIL (RIP) by her companion when he attended a geology course at a university in Washington State. The students would go out and look for rocks, there was a gentleman at the University that would take these stones and make them into jewelry and other things from various settings he acquired, and sell them.

The base "heart" of the buckle is pewter, while the oval setting the stone sits in appears to be silver.

The overall size of this piece 2-1/4" long x 2-1/4" wide.
The stone size is 1-1/2" long x 1" wide. The weight of this piece is 2.2oz/62g
