“Governor Otis Bowen, the most popular Hoosier political leader in recent history, is a man who achieved almost legendary stature while serving as the state’s chief executive.  Public approval of his performance, measured by opinion polls, soared as high as 80% -- a phenomenal ranking.  Twenty-three chapters and sixteen pages of memorable photographs of Doc, Beth and other prominent political figures cover the full range of issues and episodes surrounding Bowen’s administration.”  Otis R. Bowen, who served two terms as governor of Indiana and later became the first physician appointed as secretary of health and human services, serving under President Ronald Reagan, was the first governor to serve two terms in Indiana in more than a century.  Bowen died in May of 2013, at the of 91.
