Selling item as is, with no warranty.

Spent the last few months trying to restore this once non-functional Aiwa Walkman

Repairs and service done to this unit

Replaced belt

Replaced all capacitors

Fixed broken auto reverse switch

Demagnetized tape head and capstans

Purchased 2 new usb-c rechargeable replacement batteries

What works

All playback buttons work

All eq & music synthesizer switches work with one exception

All tuner and mode selector buttons work

What doesn’t work

Playback going in FWD direction plays out of alignment (sounds much better playing tapes in REW direction)

Recording doesn’t work

BBE highest setting (3 bars) doesn’t work

Speed of tape sometimes goes too fast

Broken metal piece meant to keep side where tape head is mounted, causes issues sometimes aligning the tape right to close the device properly.

Without another exact model to pull parts from this restoration is incomplete. I’m ready to pass it on.
