WHOLESALE x 100 UNCUT SHEET PAIRS (200 NOTES) LITHUANIA PICK # 53 (TBB 164a) UNCIRCULATED 1994

Here from modern Lithuania is the very first banknote in a special unseparated pair. The banknote features Julija Beniuseviciute - Zymantiene or Zemaite for short (1845 - 1921). Her ideas and short stories, nurtured the seeds of democracy. With the words LIETUVOS BANKAS (Bank of Lithuania) inscribed within the upper border and VIENAS LITAS (One Litas, the denomination) within the lower section. Signed by FINANSU MINISTRAS (Minister of Finance) and LIETUVOS BANKO VALDYBOS PIRMININKAS (Chairperson of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania). The reverse features the wooden Church of St. Joseph in Paluse with the coat-of-arms of the Republic depicting a mounted knight.

Size of the uncut pair is approximately 5.25 x 5.15 inches or 13.5 x 13 cms. Designed by Giedrius Jonaitis.
Printed by De La Rue

The fact that on January 1, 2009 Lithuania changed its currency to Euros, makes these uncut pairs even more interesting, but in general, uncut pairs make a wonderful collectible in an easy to mail format.
