Description: These scarse decorative lithographs originate from the famous work 'De Vogels', published in 1878. Each print is accompanied by a sheet describing the bird species. You will find more items from this series in our store.

s and Engravers: The author Hermann Schlegel (1804-1884) was a German Zoologist. He was working for the Rijksmuseum of Natural History in Leiden since 1825. Since 1828 he was the conservator. From 1860 until his death he was director. He mostly studied the animals of the Netherlands and its colonial possessions. The lithographs were made by P.W.M. Trap.

Subject: Heads and claws of different species of Birds: Muscicapa, Ampelis, Lanius (Vliegenvanger, Pestvogel, Ekster, Klaauwier, etc.).

Condition: Fine. Some discolouring. General age related toning. Small tear in top right margin, not affecting image. Please study scan carefully.

Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 22.5 x 12.5 cm. The image size is ca. 17.5 x 11.5 cm.
Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 8.9 x 4.9 inch. The image size is ca. 6.9 x 4.5 inch.
