Photograph Notes: Currently occupied by Infinity Foods a co-operative set up in the early 1970s with the then hippy ideal of providing healthy and organic alternative foods to the main supermarkets which were then just beginning to proliferate. The shop began in nearby Church Street and moved to number 25 in 1973 and were successful enough to open a bakery at neighbouring 23 in 1976 then gradually expand adding 24 to the rear the following year then combining 23 and 25to form one shop in the mid 1980s. By that time their wholesale arm had become so successful it was moved to a warehouse in Portslade. A cafe followed in 1998 around the corner at [[2625376]] and the shop further expanded into [[2683177]] in 2007 and this year celebrated its 40th birthday. These buildings were constructed in the 1870s when North Road was widened and consisted of number 23 to the left, number 25 to the right and number 24 to the rear connected by a passage between the two. Other than E Boucher occupying 23 and 24 along with [[2683094]] the units remained separate until the late 1960s when the DIY store Woodcraft, also from number 22, expanded then vacated the properties. For many years number 23 was a chippy whilst number 25 spent a similar period as a paint and wallpaper store. Number 24's stint as a toy warehouse was to supply the shop round the corner at [[2624762]].
