James Dobson, Large Andrew Ross type compound microscope
England, circa 1852; brass, steel, glass and wood.

Large compound microscope directly inspired by the new model of large compound microscope introduced by Andrew Ross around 1850.
The microscope bears the discret "JD" signature for James Dobson and the serial number "84", engraved under its V-shaped foot.
Note the spectacular plate with double horizontal and vertical movement.
The microscope retained two eyepieces, two objectives, a prism mounting under the stage and some other accessories and slides.
Unfortunately, the rack no longer works and must be changed.
Rare copy of a large Ross by a rare maker.
