The tetrahedral brown branches of the shrub are characterized by strength and flexibility. Garden furniture, baskets are woven from twigs, and staffs are carved.

A valuable honey plant. All parts of the plant have a pleasant aroma.  Honey collected on the flowers of Vitex is also very tasty and valuable due to its medicinal qualities.

Leaves, fruits are used as a spice. They are added when frying meat, cooking sauce, canning.  It acts gently, improves appetite, promotes good digestion. It can be added as a seasoning for dietary dishes.

Shoots, flowers, leaves, fruits and bark have medicinal properties. 

Fruits are harvested at full maturity (September-October), shoots with leaves — during budding or flowering (June), flowers — during flowering, bark — in spring or autumn.  Drying of raw materials should be carried out in the shade at a temperature of up to plus 30 degrees, stored for no more than 3 months.

 Fruits contain organic acids (formic, acetic, propionic, butyric, valerian, kapron), alkaloids, vitamin C, tannins, coumarins, flavonoids (casticin, quercatagetin, kaempferol), essential oil, which includes cineol, linolene, pinene, sabine, palmitic acid.

Methods of application

Decoctions, tinctures, extracts, Vitex oils have a strong healing effect. Prutnyak infusion is used for a number of gynecological diseases. Also, the infusion has a soothing effect, analgesic effect and helps to get rid of neuroses and insomnia.

 In addition, an infusion of the flowers of the plant is used and added to the bathroom in the treatment of skin diseases.  To prepare an infusion of leaves, you need to take 2-3 tablespoons of raw materials, carefully grind and pour a glass of boiling water. Then cover with a lid or wrap and leave to infuse for an hour. Strain through a thick gauze and drink a glass throughout the day in small portions.   You can also pour a glass of boiling water 3 tbsp. l. flowers. Then wrap it tightly and insist for an hour. Then, when bathing, pour the contents of the glass into the bathroom.
