Detective Comics #80, CGC F/VF 7.0, Oct 1943

This copy has been awarded a CVA Exceptional notation for its bright colours and tight structure. As such it is the BEST 7.0 that money can buy. In my opinion however it should be re-submitted – I have 8.0 VFN Detectives from this era that look exactly like this comic. This particular comic is still the ‘natural’ grade – it hasn’t been pressed or conserved in any way.

The pages have been accorded near perfection as Off white/white which is rare for comics that are 75+ years old! The new CGC case comes with a protective plastic sleeve.

Fantastic Batman vs Two-Face cover and story, artwork by Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson. Two-Face didn’t do many covers early on but this one of the best. He first appeared on the cover in Detective Comics #68 and #80 is his 2nd cover appearance and his last as Harvey Kent. In his next appearance on the cover of Batman #50 he is re-named (the now familiar) Harvey Dent.

I have been buying and selling comics for 40 years. I wrote the Comic Book Price Guide for Great Britain in book form from 1989 to 1998, now updated online. I hosted the on-stage panels at the London SuperCon and now at the MCM Comicons, interviewing eminent artists and writers. I have over 50 TV and radio appearances, as well as producing, writing and presenting the TV series Comicana for the Sci Fi Channel.

I value comics for insurance purposes and am happy to value your comics and give you the best advice. I buy Golden, Silver and Bronze Age comics, especially key issues. I also buy some British comics like Commando, TV 21, anything unusual and higher grade considered.
