Coast Bonefruit
(Threkeldia diffusa)
Coast Bonefruit also known as Wallaby Saltbush, grows as a beautiful plant
with succulent green leaves and is a small, low growing (30cm) fast growing
groundcover or small shrub. Small green flowers.
Fruits form as sweet fleshy yellow, red in colour, maturing to black berries.
Highly drought tolerant and has historically been sought
after by Indigenous Australians, early settlers and eaten by
livestock.
Useful as a tub specimen, hanging baskets, shrub or coastal planting.
An excellent bush tucker plant which grows best in full
sunlight, partial shade and well drained soil.

The ripened fruit may be picked and eaten
raw and is sweet in flavour, being picked by desert Indigenous Australians as a
snack and is still frequently collected today.
The leaves may be eaten as a vegetable after being
boiled. Beautiful green foliage and outstanding berries.
