This impressive stoneware vessel is spectacularly finished in an layered oxide drip glaze which stylishly spills over the perfectly proportioned form. The layers of glaze blend and combine to create a wonderfully rich glaze which displays an exquisite range of earthy brown, olive green and mustard tones.
The form is simply decorated with an applied lozenge featuring a medieval style relief design, the refined form of adornment enabling the exquisite form and glaze to shine.
An applied handle and well formed pouring lip ensure this masterfully hand crafted example is not only aesthetically pleasing but is also incredibly functional and a delight to hold and use. It is almost as if one can feel the artists hands that expertly formed this piece when one holds this wonderfully tactile example.
SIZE: This impressive piece stands approx 205mms tall, the body measures 115mms in diameter excluding the handle and measures 130mms in width including the handle.
WEIGHT: This piece weighs 880 grams unpackaged.
CONDITION: This jug is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. This stunning example has been very well cared for and presents wonderfully.
MARKS: This piece is beautifully signed to the base with the artists' brushed initials "ES".
