In Indonesia, several gaharu-producing plants are known, including those from the families Thymeleaceae, Euphorbiaceae, and Leguminoceae with the genus, namely Aqullaria sp., Gyrinops sp.,Aetoxylon sp.,Enkleia sp., Gonystylus sp.., Wikstroemia sp., Excoecaria sp., and Dalbergia sp.

Agarwood produced from the Aquilaria and Gyrinops trees is accepted as real agarwood by people around the world.

But there are different perceptions about Aetoxylon agarwood, some people say that the original agarwood is second grade.

Aetoxylon agarwood is cheaper than other types of agarwood but still has a distinctive aroma. Aetoxylon agarwood can be used as a raw material in the manufacture of worship equipment such as tasbih, bracelets, incense/incense, aromatherapy and so on.
