Tinted lithograph 22.5 x 15.4 cm, 21.7 x 28.9 cm (sheet), edges a little age-toned, one corner stained, but the image in very good condition.

A tranquil view rendered on the spot ("From nature") by William Heine with figures from a daguerrotype by Eliphalet Bronwn, prepared for Commodore Perry's "Narrative of the Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan...". Perry visited the Canton river in 1853, and his narrative noted local features including sites of religious significance.
