ITEM DESCRIPTION

Today we are pleased to offer this rare antique volume by Nathaniel Bishop!

A great find from a local New England estate!

This scarce antique first edition is over 144 years old!

First edition.  Ex-library.

Appears to be lacking the frontispiece illustration.  Five maps are included but bound out of order.

A rare volume to find in any condition, this example is in rough shape but remains serviceable overall!  The half leather binding is some what cocked and shows moderate wear, including a library sticker pasted to the front board, a library catalog / title sticker pasted to the spine, some rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, moderate chipping and flaking to the dry leather spine, moderate wear to the joints, some general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners, and moderate and soiling to the page edges.

Internally, this volume is in good shape overall.  Despite some repair work, there is moderate cracking to both front and rear hinges; the boards remain attached despite this wear.  All page groupings remain securely attached to the binding, and the text block does not feel loose.  Rear endpapers are lacking.

This is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers, the tile page and copyright page, and on a few pages in the text block.  Otherwise this volume is clean and free from signatures and inscriptions.

The text block of this volume shows typical age-related toning to the pages, moderate soiling and foxing scattered throughout, and some light page wrinkling and corner creasing.  Theres a bit of damage to the very last page as well.

Again, the frontispiece illustration is lacking.  There are five single-page maps present, though they do not appear to be bound in their proper locations.

Make sure to see the additional photographs in the description below for more details.

322 pages.

Measures approximately 8 1/4 inches tall by 5 3/4 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches thick.

A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special!
