1920s Blue Ribbon Malt Extract Full Can.

In the 1920s, while the prohibition anti-alcohol law was in effect in America, malt extract, a main ingredient in beer making, was sold to consumers in unfermented form for use in cooking. This sealed and full can of barley malt extract from the era comes already "hop flavored", pretty convenient if Pa wanted to add water and yeast to make some (illegal at the time) home brew.  On the other hand, Ma could send away to Blue Ribbon for a free recipe booklet with dozens of dishes to prepare using their malt extract.

Blue Ribbon Malt Extract was made in the 1920s by Premier Malt Products, Inc. which merged with Pabst Corp. in 1932, brewers of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.  This nearly100-year-old unopened can has expanded over the years with the top and bottom bowed but still tightly sealed. Labels shows wear and some small tears. Overall good for age.
