Lot is of 2 Vintage Navajo Native American Indian sand paintings.

The story of each painting is on the back. The Zuni man painting does have some light scratches in the background.

Corn Maiden - The Maiden of the Corn Harvest stands in the center of this picture.  In her left hand she holds the medicine pouch in which all things necessary for health and abundant crops are contained (pollen, herbs, and fertile soil).  In her right hand, she holds her harvest bowl.  Above her head are the rain clouds necessary for health, growth.  The white dots in the cloud represent the sun, and surrounding the picture is the Rainbow Man, the Guardian of All Good Things

Zuni Wing Knife Man - The Zuni Wing Knife Man is one of the guardian spirits of the Rainbowman.  His purpose was for the protection from all negative powers. He appeared only with the Rainbow Guardian.  In relationship to the White Man's religion, the Indian recognized him as the Guardian Angel.

Both designs are as authentic as limitations allow in order to present the rich Indiana Culture in its proper perspective.

All sands used in these pictures are natural except in cases where toning is necessary in order to create a harmonious design.

Each is on 3/4 inch wood which measures 5 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches. There is a decorative hanger on top of each painting with a sawtooth hanger in the back.
