Connee Boswell first gained fame as one of The Boswell Sisters--close harmony singers from New Orleans--during the Depression Era. After the act was disbanded, she went on to a solo career that lasted into the 1960s. She was unable to walk most of her life, a factor that led to her regularly supporting The March of Dimes and performing for disabled and sick children in hospitals. Connie wanted to perform overseas with the USO during WWII, but was denied by the state department due to her disability; therefore, she regularly performed for wounded soldiers in hospitals in the U.S. instead.

Read more about Vet, Connie and Martha Boswell and the Sisters' incredible rise to fame despite Connie's disability and the Great Depression in the book, "The Boswell Legacy," written by the daughter and granddaughter of Vet Boswell and for sale here on eBay.  Keep in mind that many of the images sold here on eBay may appear in the second edition of the book, which is coming soon.  Proceeds from book sales as well as the items here in the Boswell Sisters Store on eBay help to fund Boswell Sisters recognition projects.

The Boswell Sisters were a highly influential, close harmony singing trio. Real sisters, they were three gifted musicians who emerged from the jazz movement in New Orleans in the early 1900s and became icons & pioneers in music & early radio & recording with influences that extend far beyond their own time. They took the idea of jazz and did it vocally, and they did it with such blending and precision that it has not been equaled since. Many giants of the swing era worked in their orchestras, and even stood and applauded them in honor of their musicianship at the end of a session--musicians such as Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Mannie Klein, Bunny Berigan, Joe Venuti & Eddie Lang to name a few. This store contains items related to their career & personal lives, including the book "The Boswell Legacy" by Titus & Boswell Minnerly, restored & original seen & never-before-seen images, original artifacts owned by the sisters themselves, and much more.
