Up for sale is a commemorative medal from "I Am an American Day" at the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair, also marking the 150th anniversary of George Washington's inauguration.

Description: The medal is made from brass and measures about 32mm in diameter. It is listed in Baker's Washingtonia guide (B-3003, a "spinner" token as well).

"I Am an American Day" was first celebrated on June 25, 1939 at the New York World's Fair. It was later changed by Congress to September and called "Citizenship Day" after 1952. The piece reads, in part, "My franchise to vote is my most valuable possession."

The piece has been graded MS64 and encapsulated by NGC.

Condition: Excellent condition with lustrous, nearly prooflike surfaces. Please examine the photographs for further details and qualities.
