For sale a PABC80 / 9AK8 triple diode triode valve / vacuum tube by Tungsram, new old stock in original box and recently fully tested at 100% of nominal new emission on all sections. In pristine, clean condition with all original markings present and readable.

The PABC80 was the 300mA series heater chain version of the well known EABC80 6.3V parallel / UABC80 100mA series valves, much used as the demodulator valve for FM radio, doubling as the detector for AM frequencies. Very few table top radios used 300mA heater chains (as the few valves required didn't require enough voltage for a reasonably rated dropper to get rid of the excess mains voltage), so the PABC80 has always been a bit of a misnomer and was not much used in the UK/Europe, with 240V mains. They would also have been targeted at 300mA heater chain TV receivers, but the FM demodulating technique offered by these valves was not much taken up in TV receivers.

Nowadays, you can supply this valve's heater from a standard 12 volt supply by placing and 8.2 ohm 1 watt resistor in series with the heater.       

A sensible price for this guaranteed, new old stock and fully working example of an interesting vintage valve/tube. Of particular interest to radio set restorers, experimenters and collectors alike.

Believe it or not, some evil people have tried to send us back their dud tubes to try and get a full refund for a perfectly good tube we have just sold them! So, refund is a genuine offer, but at our discretion that we have been sent back what we actually sold you in the first place and that you haven't destroyed it through misuse! All returns under guarantee are limited to within 21 days of shipping.
