Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Robert Benard' after 'John Webber'. Robert Benard (active ca. 1734-1751) worked mainly as a engraver of book illustrations. He was very active for the Encyclopedie. John Webber (1751 - 1793) was an English artist who accompanied Captain Cook on his third Pacific expedition. He is best known for his images of Australasia, Hawaii and Alaska.
