This marvelous antique pin cushion is created in gorgeous sterling silver and was made by Gorham Silversmiths of Providence, RI.  This charming shoe is in the style of the 16th century with a gilt bow topping off the instep and there is a fanciful shaped heel.  The pin cushion is created with red velvet.  Hallmarks are:  Right facing Lion, Anchor, Script G [indicating Gorham] Sterling, 275.  There is no date mark, but most likely made in the late 19th century=early 20th century.  Measurements for this fabulous creation are:  Length from end to end=3-1/8 inches, Width at widest=7/8 inches, Height=7/8 inches, Weight=2.49 Troy ounces. This marvelous sterling silver shoe pin cushion has been well cared for, gently displayed and is in excellent antique condition, free from cracks, repairs or damage.  There is light scratching on the bottom of the shoe. commensurate with age and use, but it does not diminish the beauty of this lovely pin cushion.  It is the perfect addition to your sewing collection or as a charming display piece.
