• Made by tie dye artisans of a small town in western India, near Delhi.

Tie Dye Story

The TIE DYE on this purse is a living example of India's age old tradition of tie dyeing natural fabrics that results in interesting, colorful patterns. The beginning of this tradition can be traced back to the sixth century.The technique involves crumpling, pleating and folding the fabric into various patterns, then tying it with string. The tied fabric is then dipped into dye, then wrung out and rinsed. Tied areas accept dye unevenly amidst the folds, creating varied patterns in the finished product.
