At Linton Street, Trevor Barker, Spud Frawley, Joffa Cunningham, Peter Kiel, WoW Jones, Gary Odgers, Robert Elphinstone and others wore laceups in the late 70’s - until the mid '80s. In 1987 Robert Flower dislocated his finger in a lace up jumper and the league banned the greatest footy jumper of them all. Funnily enough, laceups were still worn in the SANFL until 2001. 70’s & 80’s VFL Footy Footy was played in the mud, on Saturday arvos at suburban grounds.
