St Adele

& Our Lady of Czestochowa

Single Decade Rosary

This pretty single decade rosary has a 1/2" diameter St Adele medal that is very old with some wear. It is silver-toned but I don't know where it was made. It is so small that I decided to add a 7/8" oval Our nickel silver Lady of Czestochowa medal (made in Italy) as well.

The 1-1/2" silver-toned crucifix was made in Italy; and the chaplet itself was designed and handmade in the USA by me.

The 10 Hail Mary beads are 8mm, genuine Czech glass beads, fire-polished and faceted, in alternating aurora borealis light aqua and aurora borealis light rose. The Our Father bead is an 8 mm, smooth, round, genuine Amethyst gemstone.

About 9" long, comes gift-boxed and with the following:

  • Saint Adele prayer card
  • Our Lady of Czestochowa prayer card
  • gift bag and tissue paper
  • How to Pray the Rosary pamphlet
  • How to Pray the Divine Mercy card
  • The 15 Promises of Mary card
  • Carry Pouch

Saint Adele's birth is unknown.  She was the daughter of King Dagobert II who was the king of Germany.  Her mother was Chimnechild of Burgundy.  King Dagobert II is also recognized as a saint for defending Christians in Germany.  Being the daughter of a king she was born into significant wealth.  This is significant considering she took a vow of poverty later in life.  She was married although there is nothing known about her husband.  They had a son who later became the father of Saint Gregory of Utrecht.  She was always a devout Christian, but wholly devoted her life to God after her husband's death.  After making arrangements for the care of her son, she became a nun, took a vow of poverty, and started a convent at Palatiolum.  She became its first abbess.  Saint Adele is thought to be one of the first disciples of Saint Boniface.  He acted as her spiritual leader.  Saint Adele passed into heaven in 730.

The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion.
