The Buddha Life Thangka vividly depicts the extraordinary journey of Buddha. Born to King Suddhodhan and Queen Mayadevi in the royal city of Kapilvastu, Lumbini, Nepal, Siddhartha Gautam, later known as Buddha, entered this world in a miraculous way. Queen Mayadevi dreamt of a white elephant, symbolizing Bodhisattva (Buddha), and miraculously became pregnant.

In the tranquil garden of Lumbini, without any labor pain, Siddhartha Gautam was born from the right armpit of his mother, Queen Mayadevi. Remarkably, right after his birth, he took seven steps forward. Gods and Goddesses in the sky poured nectar of immortality and flowers upon him, heralding his significance.

Throughout his life, Siddhartha was shielded from the world's suffering by his father, King Suddhodhan. However, the encounter with the harsh realities of life – beggars, cripples, corpses, and holy men – deeply moved him. At the age of 29, he left his luxurious life, wife, and son to embark on a spiritual quest to alleviate universal suffering.

Years of ascetic practices and meditation did not yield the satisfaction he sought. It was a simple offering of rice by a young girl that revealed the truth to him – corporeal austerity was not the path to inner liberation. Realizing this, he abandoned extreme physical constraints and accepted nourishment, leading him to a profound moment of enlightenment under the Bodhi tree during a full moon night. This transformative experience elevated Prince Siddhartha Gautam to Buddha, the awakened one.

For the next 80 years, Buddha shared his wisdom, guiding people towards nirvana, love, and friendship. His teachings, known as Dharma, illuminated the path of enlightenment for others. Upon his passing, he urged his disciples to follow no single leader, leaving behind a legacy of spiritual freedom.
