This is an uncommon edition of Bullfinch's Mythology, published by Tilton and released the same year as the true first edition of this classic (so this is the first Tilton edition).

Condition is fair.  The hinges are cracked, and the front cover is in danger of separating completely.   The boards and spine are heavily stained and worn and a bit ragged at the edges.    Inside, there is a pencil inscription of original owner; some brown stains in various places throughout (please see photos); a few small tears here and there and a few creased corners.  I noticed one page with a penciled bracket around a paragraph--don't see other marks.   A small fern has been pressed between two pages and has made a stain--I've left it as i found it.

If I were to keep this book, I think I'd pay to have it repaired (at least the separating hinge)--it's a very readable introduction to Greek mythology and a nice edition.

Note: I try to identify any flaws in books as much as possible. Sometimes a photo will catch something that I hadn't noticed when making the listing--so it's good practice to look at the photographs as well as to read the listing. I want buyers to be pleased with what they buy!

Thanks for looking
